Basic Payment Facts 2020 is our popular quick reference summary of the main rules of the Basic Payments Scheme (BPS), designed to be a useful aide memoire as we all prepare to submit this year’s BPS claim.
These are unprecedented times for farmers with the country currently in lockdown, and the government has reflected this with an extension to the deadline for the submission of BPS claims to the 15th June.
BPS rules are largely the same in 2020 as they were last year, although the government has now confirmed the relaxation of the three-crop rule.
The two other elements of the greening rules – Ecological Focus Areas and the monitoring of permanent pasture levels – remain in force.
