English Farming Update: Autumn 2022
Strutt & Parker’s Autumn 2022 English Farming Update is produced by our Farming Research Group and offers an overview of the latest issues affecting farmers’ business decisions.
It is an extremely interesting time for farming businesses, given the huge movement we have seen in both output and input prices with varying impacts across all sectors of farming.
At the same time, big questions are being asked about the future direction of farming policy, with Defra carrying out a ‘rapid’ review of agricultural policy and regulation – a move which has led to uncertainty.
The update also looks at some interesting new grant funding opportunities – especially the upcoming Slurry Infrastructure Grant and Rural England Prosperity Fund.
We also highlight our new tool which arable farmers can use to assess how sensitive net margins are to changes in the price of the main variables, such as fertiliser and diesel costs and crop sales values.
